Understanding GPX
GPX Health Check
Check a GPX, review warnings and inspect any repaired file before use.
Use the Free GPX Health Check before importing an uncertain GPX or when a runner reports file problems. It is a separate tool from the short upload checks inside route hosting.
Check a file
- Open Health Check and select the GPX you intend to use, within the limit shown.
- Run the check and review the score, grade and detailed results.
- Investigate errors and warnings rather than relying only on the score.
- If repair is offered, download the repaired file and compare its line and elevation with the intended course.
- Import the checked file or use it to replace the existing route.

What the report checks
Checks cover readable GPX structure, usable positions, point counts, gaps, consecutive duplicates and elevation coverage or spikes. A warning is a prompt to inspect the issue; a high score is not a guarantee of device compatibility or course correctness.
Repair carefully
For supported issues, repair can rebuild clean GPX, remove consecutive duplicate points and generate or smooth elevation. Terrain availability can affect processing. Repair does not establish land access or select the correct course around a closure. Keep the original file and inspect the repaired result before using it.
After a course change
Download the latest GPX from the public route page and check that file if needed. It is the file runners receive. Health Check operates on GPX; KML and FIT are validated during their import workflow.
